Yoga Offerings:
My approach to yoga is to continue to forge the connection between the body and mind, to learn what it is like to inhabit the present moment and to leave behind unconscious and habitual reactivity to what life presents, to be compassionate and to respond to life with love, thoughtfulness and courage. My goal as a teacher is that each of my students learns to be kind to themselves, to open and strengthen their minds and bodies to meet the challenges of life with grace, courage, and compassion, and to find happiness in this moment. Yoga is about so much more than the shapes we make in our asana practice, it is our ability to meet ourselves where we are each and every time we arrive on the mat.
Yoga 101: A series for beginners & those who want to get back to basics
Yoga 101 is a 4-part series that will provide participants with all the tools and confidence to explore the benefits of yoga and establish a foundation for practice. Join Valerie & Chris at MountainGoat Yoga (Barrhaven) to learn more about the practice of yoga and how to make it fit you.

Each 2-hour session will consist of practice, discussion and exchange of knowledge. Topics covered: basic poses (Asanas) including Sun Salutations, breathwork (Pranayama), meditation, use of props, principles of yoga philosophy and basic anatomy.

Weekly Yoga Fit Classes @ MountainGoat Yoga:
Combining aspects of a yoga practice (postures, breath and awareness) with mobility training to build and maintain functional range of motion, strength, and stability through increased neurological and muscular control. Weights, Theraband’s and other props may be used to explore and challenge the body. It is innovative, creative and fun. And will increase your connection of mind-body awareness along with strength and flexibility. Join me Thursdays at 9 am at MountainGoat Yoga.
Yoga Nidra Pop-Up Classes @ MountainGoat Yoga:
Join me for monthly Yoga Nidra classes at MountainGoat Yoga. This class offers students an opportunity to tap into deep relaxation, intuitive wisdom and creativity. Yoga Nidra or Yogic Sleep is a state of abiding awareness that arises in the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep. We begin each class with some gentle movement and then make our way into a restorative pose supported with blankets, bolsters and other props to begin the practice of Yoga Nidra.
This is a simple but powerful meditative/relaxation practice that offers benefits such as helping reduce stress and cortisol levels, improves sleep & concentration, can help reduce blood pressure and symptoms of physical pain as well as planting intentions for self healing & personal growth. Sunrise Yoga Virtual Classes:
I like to think of my virtual offerings as a way to gather and practice together, and what better way to start the day than with movement (asana), breath awareness (pranayama), and meditation without having to leave your house (or even get out of your pyjamas!)? Greet the day in a most auspicious way and practice once, twice or three times a week. Each class begins with a deliciously slow warm-up, followed by some asana and ending with a bit of pranayama and meditation. If your schedule or interest does not include time for the pranayama or meditation portion of the class you are always welcome to sign off at the end of the posture practice. It really is your practice and you get to decide.
I have designed this 8-week session with the intention of dedication to practice. Consistent practice, whether you do it once a week or more often, is powerful. When you commit to 8-weeks of practice you are building the habit of getting on the mat which, over time, strengthens how we live off the mat. For each 8-week session there will be classes on Mondays and Wednesdays (no classes on holidays) with at least 2 Friday classes.
You can sign up directly with me for the 8-week session, or if you are curious and want to try a class before you commit. Cost for the 8-week session is $100 +HST.

Massage Therapy with Yoga Nidra (90 min treatment):
Deeply relaxing and restorative this treatment is the combination of a 60 min massage followed with 30 min of Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation done while you are on the table. Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness and is found in the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep that access the subtle body, or koshas.

My participation in any or all virtual or in-person classes with, Valerie Lafranchise, RMT, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, indicates that I am aware and understand the following:
- I understand that there are potential risks when practicing yoga. Injury can include: soft tissue damage, provocation or aggravation of an underlying health condition, headaches etc.
- I am responsible for my health and well-being and understand that I have the option of not participating in any or all of the instruction given by Valerie Lafranchise in her capacity as a yoga teacher and massage therapist.
- I release Valerie Lafranchise/Stillpoint Massage Therapy & Yoga from any liability or claims arising from my participation in these classes or activities.

Understanding how our habits of movement and breath can create tension & imbalance, or space & freedom within the body and mind is powerful and the first step to increasing overall health and wellness. The focus of each session will be dependent on your needs and may include yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breathing), and/or meditation, as well as traditional therapeutic and functional movement exercises. My goal is to meet you where you are, always and figure out together how to get you to where you want to be.
